Lapis Lazuli Necklace
Lapis lazuli necklaces (Lajward, لاجورد, in Persian) carry one of the oldest gemstone stories in the world: the deep royal-blue stone has been mined for over six thousand years in the Sar-e-Sang mines of Badakhshan, Afghanistan, the same source that supplied the pigment ultramarine to Egyptian pharaohs and Renaissance painters.
Every piece in this collection is sourced through Ersaly’s buying office in Mashhad, Iran, and cut by hand rather than machine-pressed, which is why no two pendants show quite the same pattern of golden pyrite flecked through the blue.
Styles in this collection
The range runs from simple tumbled-bead pieces on a leather cord, like the Tumbled Lapis Lazuli Necklace at €68, to bolder statement pendants such as the Bold Prism-Shape Pendant (€74) and the Chunky Lapis Lazuli Necklace (€139), where the raw, uncut character of the stone is left visible.
Shapes include hearts, stars, rectangles and ovals, and most pieces come with a choice of gold, silver or leather chain, plus an authenticity certificate confirming the stone is natural, untreated lapis rather than dyed howlite — a substitution common enough in the wider market that it’s worth checking for on any lapis piece you buy, from us or elsewhere.

- Long-lasting durability

- Comfortable everyday wear
- Excellent pairing with natural gemstones
- Timeless jewelry style
If you’re drawn to the stone rather than the necklace format specifically, our Lapis Lazuli Rings and Lapis Lazuli Bracelet collections use the same Badakhshan sourcing, and our Lapis Lazuli Prayer Beads apply it to tasbih for daily dhikr. For a different stone with a similar everyday-wear appeal, our Turquoise Necklace collection sources feroza from Nishapur. You’ll find the full range, including chains and symbol pendants, under Necklace and the broader Jewelry & Gemstones category.
